grief, grief books, motherless, mother's day

To Those Missing Their Mom This Mother's Day

I see you..

carrying a quiet kind of grief that you think the world forgot about. You watch friends celebrate their mom, while your heart breaks in two. You can’t help but feel robbed, because your mom is no longer here on earth.

You are not ungrateful. You are not bitter. You are not broken.. You are missing someone who made your world feel like home.

And today hurts, I know. It cuts deep to the bone and feels like a punch to the gut..

How can one day make our grief feel even worse than it already is?

Only someone who has lived with this loss can truly understand.

If you feel like crying, cry. If you feel like smiling, smile.

Your grief is valid. Your love is still very much alive.

and your mom, wherever she may be.. is still your mom.. forever and always a part of you.

So if all you do today is survive, I hope you know that’s more than enough.

I hope you feel her all around you. In your strength, in your heart, in the sun shinning down on your face, and in the love that will never, ever leave.

You are not alone in this grief. We carry it together. For them. Because of them…with a love that death cannot touch.. not today, not tomorrow. not ever.

Sending love to every heart missing their mom this Mother’s Day.
